Hello families,

Team Phoenix is planning a field trip to the National Audubon Society in Hinesburg next Thursday, September 28th. We will leave around 9:00 a.m. and be back for the last class of the day. We have set up three trips throughout this year to the nature center, each one focusing on a different skill. Wilderness Skills in the fall, Winter Tracks and Signs in January, and Aquatic Ecosystems in the spring. This is a great opportunity for students to experience our local ecosystems and make connections with our curriculum. This also gives us the time and space outside of the classroom to connect to each other and build our new team.

We are asking for a donation of $15 total, $5 for each trip for each student. This will cover the cost of all three programs and transportation each time. Checks can be made payable to CBMS or cash works too. Please let us know if you'd like to help sponsor another student by sending a larger donation, or if this is a hardship for your family. We will make sure every student gets to go.

Some things to know about this trip:

  • There is no potable water on the property. Please come prepared with a water bottle.

  • The program is entirely outdoors. Please come dressed for the weather.

  • Audubon staff suggest making sure students and families check for ticks after visits.

  • Students can bring a lunch from home or order cold lunch from the cafeteria. We will need to get a cold lunch count for the cafeteria by Monday.

We are looking forward to our first team field trip!

Sincerely,

Kaylie and Melissa
